I've been in discussions with SJR, they are one of the only ones who'll deliver and install at our address, near Oban west coast Scotland.
just read the post above about the jacking beam which worries me a little, especially as it's probably a Caterham that'll be sat on the lift.
The whole unit is supposedly moveable but they recommend bolting down if you are using the jacking beam. Would it topple over that easily?
Anyone else fitted and used the SJR one before I pass over my hard earned?
Thanks

Can I ask approx how much the SJR Model 1 lift costs? I can't see prices on their website.

I am also looking at the Strongman Bonar at £2,400

Looks like the web site has gone down tonight. The listing was always odd, with there being about 5 variants listed 5,2,3,1,4 or something...

I can't speak for hydraulic lifts, but a mechanical lift with screws and nuts cannot creep.
Two poster for access definitely, but yes it is a bit of a fag to position the arms.
I know someone running a 2-post on the safety nuts, and during a quiet period finally got around to checking them, and was alarmed to find it had worn most of the way through the safeties too! But you can defeat and safety system if you try hard enough....

For sure, you cannot protect idiots hell-bent on their own destruction... that scenario is akin to driving through a red light.

Had mine fitted (model 2) by them recently. Very happy with their installation (no way was I going to do it on my own or with mates and to be honest, the instructions aren't great anyway!). I opted against the jacking beam as with the lift right up against the wall one side there's little liklihood of me doing much maintenance in the garage - it was really bought for storage. It's not bolted to floor.

Hi cirks

Would you be able to tell me the height from floor to ceiling allowing your installation.
I'm off on one again and am still trying 'to fit a pint in a half pint pot', as the last time I tried to measure the gap in my garage it was 90mm short.
Much appreciated.

Mine's pretty tight too although if I moved the lighting (which I will be doing) I'd gain a few more inches. Overall internal height is 2.65m. Fortunately both my cars are relatively low. Don't forget to include the ~6" between safety stops on the lift and that ideally you should raise a couple of inches above the stop you want the ramps to sit on before lowering to the stop. Just a couple of inches difference in my 2 cars' heights means different stops are used for the two cars if they're the other way round. A safety cut-out can be fitted in case you get it wrong!

Thanks.
Just confirmed that I am 90mm short of headroom.
Plan B ....... just need to figure out Plan B, otherwise I may have to part with a TVR.
3 TVR's into a double garage will not go and my temp Clark garage will be getting dismantled when the garden & driveway alteration works begin.
Message to self ....... Employ garden/driveway alteration delay tactics.

Do you have the garage length to allow you to just put the nose of one car under the ramp, that’ll get you the 90mm you need

what are the heights of your 2 cars? I can check whether the stops/locks would allow yours to fit. is your overall height 90mm less than mine?

Hi Ken

are you getting rid of the Clark garage permanently or just till the alterations get done?
Can you not store the 3rd car temporarily elsewhere?

No is the short answer.
We were able to extend the garage length when the alterations to the property were originally done but only in line with the property, the garage length is 18'6''.

2540mm is the max between the flat floor and the bottom of the roof trusses which run the length of the garage.
Will have to measure the car heights again ....... Tuscan 1,Tasmin FHC & Griff 4.3.

Hi Mark, hope that all is well with you and yours.
The Clark garage will be going.
Storage wasn't a problem until the selfish sod next door wanted to use his own garage.
Plan B still an option when its formulated, living in a listed building is a pain in the ar*e.

No, because of the house foundations and the way the garages were built along with next doors garages.
It's not a problem with the garages next door but when the original alterations were done the planners insisted on the garage (2x double) roof lines being different to differentiate the properties. (We owned both properties until 4yrs ago).

That is genuinely impressive.

Proper quart in a pint pot.
