Next one due up on Collecting Cars. If monochrome spec is your thing this will be just up your street.

I adore the diamond stitched seats. It's the one thing I wish my car had. Completely useless as you're sitting on them and not even looking at it, but I adore it still.

Thanks for pointing out the latest Collecting Cars FF.

It's interesting that the ptu was replaced in 2019, with someone outside of the official ferrari network supplying a ptu for Joe Macari to install. Would this mean that a Ferrari warranty could not be applied to this car?

There is a "Electrical System Failure" warning on the dash after the start up in the video. I would have made sure that this issue was repaired before making a marketing video!

What do we imagine this is example will sell for?

Joe Macari are an official Ferrari service agent tbok -- from their website ''In 2007 an Official Ferrari and Maserati franchise was granted to Joe Macari Servicing for a new purpose built service centre.'' - so surely the PTU was supplied to JM by FNE.

Seems a missed opportunity to install a specialist PTU with uprated forks. All that time and money and now it's just got another "standard" PTU with its inherent fault

I am having naughty thoughts about one of these. I have the perfect spec 812GTS but being a 2 seater it doesn’t get used as much as I would like and I love the idea of piling the kids in the back for special days out.

No rear tints would be an absolute must for me. Presumably CarPlay can be retro-fitted?

Isn't the Jimny special enough for the kids? ;-) rofl

Unfortunately the Jimny has rotten through so much that it can’t pass an MOT any more, I’ve just been told

Quick question about the need for suspension lift?

I have a 2006 DB9 Volante which is about the lowest that my driveway can cope with. Have any of you had the experience of both a DB9 and a FF in terms of front lip clearance?

Many thanks

I changed the head unit on mine, the standard one was appalling when it was fitted new, never mind now.

https://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/threads/2014-ff-...

I know many people are ambivalent about the pano roof, but it really benefits rear passengers if it's going to get used regularly 4 up. If the interior is black and no pano it's a bit of a cave back there.

It took me a long time to find a car with pano and no tints. I despise privacy glass. However, if you find the right car in every other respect last time I looked it was less than £2K to change the rear glass and sides for clear. The privacy is worth double so you'd likely be able to do a deal with Eurospares on the glass coming out.

Yes, that's the one I spoke to the salesman about. The paint colour is far more interesting in person than in pictures.

I have lift and use it. It's not front only it's both axles.

The suspension on an FF is not like a mid engined Ferrari, so if you creep over aggressive sleeping policeman the car can bottom out on the rebound.

It's also very long, so if you had a steep drive angles of attack can be a compromise.

The biggest issue i (still) have is how far back from the front you sit, I'm forever nudging things with the parking sensors going nuts when I still think Im a foot away.

In short it's a good thing to have but if I found a car that didn't have it but ticker my box on any other respect then I'd probably be happy to pass on it. Be aware on some of the early cars, certainly 2011 and maybe some 2012 the lift system (the pump I thank) was rubbish and failed. It was one of the things that was revised after a couple of years to a more reliable unit.

The FF I had didn't have lift. In the 2.5 years I owned it. It never bottomed out and I never felt I needed lift.

However if you live somewhere, or regularly travel somewhere where there is an extreme angle you might want it. Depends on your circumstances

The lift pump issue affects all FFs fitted with lift regardless of build date. It’s caused by a poorly assembled seal in the Delphi supplied pump. The official Ferrari fix only came out once the Lusso was released and involves retrofitting the Lusso pump, a new wiring loom and new control software. Total cost about £8k.

Alternatively, an independent can replace the failed seal for a few hundred £.

As for whether lift is essential or not; it isn’t until it is. I’ve been in a situation on holiday where the FF wouldn’t have made it into the hotel basement garage without the lift (we grounded unexpectedly so I hit the brakes and then the lift button).

The issue is not the overhangs but the wheelbase (breakover?)

We haven’t owned a DB9 but a Vantage. The FF has more ground clearance than the V8V but the long wheelbase can conspire to cause problems which the V8V wouldn’t have had. However, the V8V grounded the front spoiler over bumps which the FF takes in its stride…

You're right, I went back and read the thread on F Chat. Upon failure they were replacing the lift pump with a Marelli upgraded unit, I'd assumed this was an upgrade in the FF but it's actually the Lusso pump being fitted to FFs.

Every day's a school day.

I have a 2008 DB9 and a 2012 FF. My drive only has a gentle slope so I don't have an issue with front lip clearance here. As mentioned above the FF seems to ride a bit higher than the Aston. I've only had the FF for a couple of months and no problems with grounding out so far.

What’s the deal with CarPlay on the FF? And are there significant differences between early and late cars?
