Rumours are Marcus considering pulling out of the UK market in the near term.

Interesting, what would that mean for existing UK account holders? or would they simply stop new accounts?

I think stop offering for new customers and steadily reduce rates over time realistically. Sounds like a potential pivot to private clients.

I'd kept a Cynergy Bank account ticking over because they can be ahead of the pack, and they went to 2.75% before Santander.

.
They are often ahead of the pack for their existing customers,
but their clunky log-in, complex on-line banking and dreadful customer service ........... rolleyes

Cheap source of funding for GS , so surprised if they pull out.

The wife opened an account with them yesterday so it’s business as usual at the moment.

Just got the email, my money is currently in Santander @ 2.72. I really cannot be bothered to keep moving it around for fractions of a percent

Don’t know why they bothered when they know Chase is offering 3% (and have upped the limit to £500k).

They still need to make a lot of rich people richer - hence can’t go to 3%

Are they upping existing EA accounts, or do you have to open a new one to get that rate?

Looks like a new issue, no word on existing issues. Best to assume you need to apply for the new one. Relatively easy to do once logged in.

You are right. I need to apply for the new account, then transfer and close from my current IA account. I did it all on my phone, including the acceptance reply email, all within 60 seconds.

I received a letter in the post today from GS saying they are closing my Marcus account. No reason given other than they can do so at their discretion in line with their terms. Very odd. I haven't done anything with my money in there other than add and withdraw a few grand here and there. I've opened a Chase account now so will move the money over.
Has anyone else had the same happen to them?
