And he uses Thatcher to prove his point!! He’s mad the left hate her and everything she stood for. It’s that simple. Choose Blair anyone else but not Thatcher!! He’s lost the plot it will be used against him time after time. Good news I say but what a muppet. If he makes mistakes like that god help us if he’s in charge
I mean, yes. Kier Starmer is very bad at politics at a basic 'gamesmanship' level. One of the many reasons why he won't get my vote. The bits of 'The Left (tm)' that I'm plugged into haven't even noticed this quote as yet - I suspect because they long stopped caring about any of SKS's speeches, if only because on current form another one with a different set of earnestly-held values and pledges will be along in a couple of months. The buzz is more about his "weed smoke is ruining lives" section - straight out of the New Labour c.2006 script, just desperately pandering to tabloids and voter groups that will never support him in any case.

Good to see he said Margaret Thatcher was right on crime !! Nice to see a Labour leader endorse Thatcher !!’

He must be getting desperate for Tory votes if he has to quote Thatcher. The left must have spat out their beer when they heard that !!’ Brilliant. He obviously forgot about Thatcher and the mines!
I mean seriously if you are a left wing Labour supporter how can you vote for a guy who says Thatcher was right on anything !!

Sir Keir endorsing Margaret!! Love to see the press ask Ang if she also now backs Thatcher. Hilarious. What a laugh old flip flop is. He now believes in BREXIT and now thinks Thatcher is right. Hope he puts the cross in the right box when he votes !!

Ps keep saying we agree with Thatcher. Loving it !! Made my day !! That’s written Sunak’s response for PMQ’s. !! Much laughter from the Tory benches !! Think Starmer’s judgement is a bit suspect !!

You seem a bit hysterical, why not have a lie down and a rest from your fanatical Tory posting for a bit, not everyone has the stamina of Turbobloke.Completely hysterical.

Not a Starmer or Labour supporter but:
He agreed with Mrs. T saying that the first duty of government is the rule of law. I'm pretty sure that, of all the things Maggie said and did, that is not one of the controversial ones.
If anything it's holding up a mirror to the current government and how badly it is failing to live up to its history, its values and one of its former statesmen that virtually all its members would hold as some sort of role model.

Yet another poll shows a 7 point drop in Labour lead. Get Johnson out of the way and Sunak on a roll.
Not a surprise as the only policy plans they seem sure about appear to be to tax pensions, savings, investments and any other money that any evil rich bd might have. Weirdly that isn't popular outside the activist loons.

To be fair it might be an idea to look at CGT. Taxing at the same rate as income might be fair as long as people aren't being taxed on inflation.Weirdly that isn't popular outside the activist loons.
The old system of indexation of gains with a higher rate seems objectively fairer to me.

I'm not a Tory support but often thought the same. Seems to me that the politicians who claim to be the heirs of Thatcher wouldn't have got near her cabinet. The nearest she got for having a bit of soft spot for a naughty boy was Cecil Parkinson FFS. She had absolutely no time for lightweights, spivs, rogues and liars. He agreed with Mrs. T saying that the first duty of government is the rule of law. She got us a pretty good deal in Europe and could see the benefits for business. She did like a bit of anti European posturing but I doubt she'd have wanted her work squandered by Brexit the way it has been.
Referencing Thatcher is risky for politicians though because the nuances of the point he was making get obscured by both end of the spectrum
