Ha ha, so it did go home with George!

The younger drivers can be quite funny on the social media banter. Don’t they actually live around the corner from each other in Monaco? Or perhaps George will take it all the way to Melbourne to hand it over.
He should so do that. In some sort of, standing on Yellow Pages faux ceremony.

Maybe get Mick and Daniel involved too. All handing something back laugh
......and Max laugh

Or that, as per the above post, the drivers are stuck making jokes about getting a trophy, losing it, then getting it back again.

But I suppose it's all drama and drama sells. Motorsport, even when all is fair and professional, is still ultimately just drama.

It's not very 'pure' but I suspect Liberty with their new design for F1 and DTS are onto something when they conclude that the average viewer that laps up on track motorsport drama will also heavily invest and enjoy the off track shenanigans too. Even the FIA's routine cock ups make for some interest/drama.

Ferrari hardly ever do a good job these days but watching them constantly snatch defeat from the jaws of victory is... mesmerising in it's own way.

Max is a hothead son of a reportedly violent father. That's outrageous in many ways of course yet it adds more drama - will Max ever flip out to a greater extent than 'perhaps' causing a collision or shoving another driver off the weighing scales in frustration?

Drama drama drama... The sports pressure sets up the potential for drama and when drama results, it's celebrated.
Reportedly? Isn’t it proven in court?

They've done a little vid on Twitter of George handing the trophy to someone at the Mercedes F1 base and someone driving it 15 minutes up the A43 to Aston Martin

Do they just drop it on the doorstep, ring the doorbell and then run off!

Do they have the Jordan/Force India/Racing Point trophies? (I checked for Midland and Spyker, they didn't get any podiums)

They'll probably get one now, 2 podiums from Alonso so far!

Sunday just gone where RB clearly manipulated space for Max to easily take fastest lap to ensure he remained just ahead of Checo id the WDC.
Apologies as I'm just catching up on the end of this thread, but can you help me understand why you've drawn this conclusion? All I've seen is both race engineers telling their respective drivers to target a 33.0, and both drivers ignoring these instructions? Then Max being told not to go for fastest lap (and him ignoring that), and Checo being told he had the fastest lap when he asked, which he did?

I don't know if Checo's race engineer speaks to Max's race engineer to be honest, but are you of the mind that Checo's engineer knew that despite being told not to go for it, Max had said he was interested in the fastest lap, and thus deliberately didn't tell Checo about this in order to disadvantage Checo / advantage Max?

If the team didn't want the drivers going for fastest lap, and one of them ignores it and does go for it, are they supposed to then go "Checo, the team doesn't want either of you going for fastest lap, but we expect Max is going to anyway, so you should also ignore us and go for it too?"

Quite feasible I've missed something (I haven't paid much attention to the media chunterings since the race) I'm just going by the radio transcripts that seem to be pretty widely accepted as genuine.

Seems as good a place as any to mention this. I was just double checking the calendar to ensure there wasn't a GP this weekend and noticed what a mess the early part of the season calendar is. Aside from the bizarre way, the F1 circus zig zags back and forward across the globe, why do we have a 4 week gap between Aus and Baku and then a 1 week gap from Baku to Miami?

The hypocrisy of running different fuel, reducing engine size all in the name of targeting eco friendly, the carbon footprint of the F1 calendar is disgusting. The bouncing across the globe over different weeks is maddening, makes no sense to me, but perhaps there's a legitimate reason

No defense from me on the zig-zagging but the four week gap is due to the cancelled Chinese GP.

I think it's because China was supposed to be race 4 in the middle of that gap.

Fair enough, hadn't considered China. I'd almost forgotten we used to have races there! 1 week between Baku and Miami seems weird though.
