Letting the team down again with dirty brekki for some old train station come tat shop on the way home

It's a sorry day when the hash brown is the most appealing item on the plate.
I'd found a really nice looking cafe with proper coffee and sourdough type words on the menu, but she 'spotted' this one, so why fight it. tbf we were up against it to make it to brekki serving at my one, so maybe saved some disappointment

A slightly startled brunch for me.

This is very good.

Nicely cooked and not too busy.

I don’t get egg frying rings. Seems pointless to me.
Great for when doing in rolls/ muffins, saves the hanging out bits. This one needs bacon IMO to be spot on.

In the office (5th time in 3 years) picking up a new work MacBook.

Rude not to sample the canteen offerings (not subsidised however). I won’t be staying for lunch thankfully.

Devilled lamb kidneys. It'd've been rude to not have tried the most unusual option on the menu, but it's a little too rich so I wouldn't again. Next time I'll opt for kippers or the £23.50 plus 15% service charge FEB.

What meat is this? Meatloaf? Rectangle burger patty?.......Square sausage?

Or is it better to not know?

Yeah, tough life that!!

I used to like the sister restaurant, the Delauney as it used to be 2 mins from my office pre-covid. Not much change from £10 for a bacon roll though - probably more now.

It was worth it for a 7.45am breakfast meeting in Central. The coffee was poor, everything else was cynically humbrum, but the environment and ambience excellent.

For me the eggs are under cooked on top but I know CdG prefers them that way. I like the white splashed with hot oil so it's just translucent and the yolks still runny.

It is 3 sausages split in half, so 3 halves per roll. One with the hash brown/bite out of it is Brown Sauce, t'other is Ketchup.

1 sausage per roll is not enough, and 2 per roll is too much !! this caused much confusion when I said/described what I wanted. Lady on till was like - "3 sausages in each roll ?"

Yeah the food is not great there it’s all about the surroundings. The best breakfast used to be at simpsons in the strand ten deadly sins but it’s not there now

Any other recommendations in that area? Let's say Green Park, as it was forty minutes door to door this morning, very convenient.

I spent 10 years living in London (Putney/Barnes) in my twenties and early 30’s I loved the mischief I got up to back then so I started coming back for a treat and I used too just book a different decent hotel months in advance for value and have a riot. Too old and committed now. For riots. You’re never too old for a decent hotel.

It’s not the best area for breakfast really. You need to be down in the city for some of the stars. Still around there you are best off heading to queens on queen street or over to jermyn street for either 45 or Francos
