I regularly walk through the park this house overlooks . It’s been for sale for few years, can’t imagine why it’s struggling to sell.

The rest of the house would look very different but I would love to have a home cinema set up in that vein paperbag
I think I like the balcony

No kerb appeal, odd layout, shared driveway, undeclared garage conversion, cage in the garden, by a farmers access to their field...
And an Airy house, a whole world of pain...

Blimey, yes - was up for £1.6M four years ago. Not benefitted from the Covid price bubble.

Seems to be quite booked up as a holiday home: https://www.sykescottages.co.uk/cottage/Lake-Distr...

Apart from the fact that not everyone goes for the brothel look it's just too big - 9 bedrooms FFS!

But it's in a really good area, and I would think the best bet from a purely financial point of view would be to demolish it and redevelop the site with yet more crappy `executive homes' - like the Ribble Valley isn't already being destroyed by the bloody things.

This has got to be the ugliest McMansion design on the St George's Hill Estate or maybe anywhere.

https://www.rightmove.co.uk/properties/115489649#/...

It's got the columns but then the house itself doesn't share the architecture, it's all big plate windows. It's like fitting a Spirit of Ecstacy onto the bonnet of a Lexus. It's all CGI so hopefully it won't get built like it.

Is it normal to just show a cgi of what it could be, when it is described as a 'first fix'?

Even more curious is it's complete and on the map at the centre here - https://www.google.com/maps/@51.3466666,-0.4398652...

Maybe it's just an empty shell at the moment.

Seems good value for a plot in that area - I assume it'll go for a good deal more?

At that price we can assume it doesn't have planning...

But existing building would make that more likely (how likely?) to be obtained?

Yeah, but you might be stuck with the existing footprint or something.

My point, really, was that if it's being sold without PP, I'd be wondering why.

That looks like a futuristic prison for the rich. Horrific

Looks like it was a `work in progress' 11 years ago!

Hideous - but picture #30 is a dead giveaway as to the target market.

They've got their Xmas tree Up! It was listed 6 days ago so they must have had it up before the 21st of November. Not only is that way premature but that picture is gonna be embarrassing when the house is still for sale in July. Can you even get a mortgage on this type of house?

As long as it's out of the flood plane it could be a good project. Nearby property with what looks like less land and garaging: https://www.rightmove.co.uk/properties/115638488#/...
