I fancy a bit of GA action and have been watching reviews of the new Black Square Bonanza which looks superb when I noticed they have also created the Velocity XL which is a strange looking thing with Canards on the front.

My all time favourite GA aircraft in P3D was the RealAir Lancair Legacy because of its great range and cruising speed.

The Velocity looks like it may tick those boxes with a 400hp piston engine giving it a 400mph top speed and a max range of 1600 miles.

£20 on Just Flight .... I may give it a go I don't suppose anyone else has it do they ?

I need a hotas. I treated myself to a Logitech X56. It was perfect. I assigned all the buttons and switches and flying was brill… until I noticed the throttle increasing ever so slowly from 80% to full over about fifteen minutes.

This is a known fault by all accounts, but I don’t know if it affects everyone.

The reason I went for this one was the Thrustmaster Warthog doesn’t have the Z axis. And it’s twice as much.

What other options do people suggest. Looking to spend a couple of hundred. I’ve sent the X56 back and am now back on with my trusty sidewinder 2.

If you like airliners then Thrustmaster do the TCA Airbus HOTAS, replicating (surprise surprise!) an Airbus. There's an add on that adds the flaps, gear, airbrake, etc. £250all.in online
There is also their TCA Boeing yoke pack, on sale now for £300 from £430. Replicates a Boeing yoke

Keep saying to myself I will play this more when I have finished building my sim, but that is taking longer than anticipated.

Question for those who play a lot what buttons that arent part of the main flight controls do you use a lot? My sim has a G1000 but the audio panel is largely uselsss so was going to change the buttons into sim buttons so I can move the keyboard out of the way. Was thinking, start/stop pushback, active pause, some camera view points. Any others?

I don’t bother with start or stop pushback because I only use that once through a flight. I have the auto pilot modes and heading bugs, auto pilot heights and vertical speed, trims and lights, vfr map and the odd camera views / panels set up.

Also, pretty much any button I mispress when using the mouse in a choppy flight.

I am struggling to get time to build mine (the wooden shed type arrangement ont he previous page) as well, did a bit this weekend but was at the airport doing my Saturday on the old planes there, didnt actually do much but gave a friend a tour, planned to do some when I got in at 4 but was knackered, then it was mothers day on Sunday, got a couple of hours in later on Sunday.

Got the walls packed with old kitchen worktop in the cavity where the monitors will be as something to mount them too solidly, left an air gap using shims so shouldn't get damp, battened the walls and ceiling, cut the door frame down and fitted another piece of kitchen worktop which will be the desk, was liberated from the couple over the roads skip as they are having a kitchen replaced, its pristine so that will be perfect as the desk, all measured for height and am mocking up everything else for sockets, cabling etc.

At least the light nights are just round the corner so can finish work and get some time in, week booked off over Easter and will re-roof the whole thing.

Bought some Logitech 5.1 speakers SH on eBay, normally well over £100 so at £50 a good saving if all ok, spent way too much on this whim as it is

Been learning about plasterboarding for the inside, doesnt look too bad to do.

Then will paint, carpet and fit lights and may actually play some FS2020, possibly with a few little system upgrades, that Boeing stick looks good...

Any suggestions of things to add or do gratefully received,

Narcisus

Will put a little unit behind me in the corner with a small bar area, probably a couple of bottles of Whisky, maybe even some optics biggrin

Wife will try and surprise me as she, and others to be fair believes its actually more for other "pursuits", bit of a project to construct a small room for that though eh ?

Need to work out some ventilation as there is the chance of potentially lethal "methane build up" in such a small area !

Mainly airliners for me but may try stuff like that.

Need to get it done, still a way off, it’s getting the time.

Wondering whether the 34 inch lute wide monitor I have or the spare 43 inch telly I have would be better ?

Lock fitted !

Never done that before so rather amazed that it looks that normal and fully works, no doors were ruined either.

Another update this week. I’ve moved everything else from my SSD and I’m still tight on space. Much more growth and I’ll have to get a new disk!
