Yep, Scott on cold tyres but had the line. But penalised for causing a collision. I think in F1 it would have been his corner and Grosean going around the outside would have been taking his chances.
Either way, disappointing.
He didn't have the line he was off line on the inside, Grosjean was on the racing line and instead of cutting right in gave a cars width on the inside for McLaughlin. McLaughlin on cold tyres and off line lost the rear corrected but slid into Grosjean. If he had done that without Grosjean being there he would have still gone into the tyres. F1 would also have penalised McLaughlin for causing an avoidable accident.Either way, disappointing.
I have to say.......yet another Indycar race that was far, far more varied, unpredictable and exciting than the F1 race on the same weekend....
My only criticism is that I wish the tracks were better. Races like Laguna & Road America are great but stick a few more equivalents of Spa/Turkey/Interlagos in there to replace the somewhat identikit street courses and it'd be fantastic.

Given how the series is growing I'm surprised they haven't tried an international race, they're not even going to Mexico and only into Canada once too. I'd love to see them on the Montreal F1 track for example. And the next race is nearly a month away too, 02/04. My only criticism is that I wish the tracks were better. Now, having said that, the series may be improving but quite a few teams still didn't do a car/sponsor presentation/launch, citing money issues. The smaller teams are still struggling it seems.

I had thought this also, I think you would get reasonable traction if there were a couple of european races i.e UK and France/Germany.Somewhere non-silverstone like Brands GP track - would be a halo series for the track and given the state of some of the USA tracks, would think that Brands would comply.
I would certainly go out my way to attend! Don't know the logistics of how they get resources across the states (i.e if entirely on land or airfrieght) but LA -> NY isn't a great amount different then NY -> UK if it is done entirely by air.

I was at Rockingham for the Champcar Rockingham 500 in 2002.
Great day out, if relatively lightly attended.
Those cars were loud
Would love it if modern Indycar came to the UK, I'd definitely go.
As it is, we are seriously considering going to a race in the US next year. I checked the ticket price for the Indy 500 and was pleasantly surprised at how reasonable it was for such a blue chip event (circa $140 for start/finish straight seats IIRC)

They also had the races at Rockingham on the now defunct oval.

I was there in 2001. The speed was breathtaking. Pity the surface defects caused such a headache. All gone now though.Great day out, if relatively lightly attended.

Enjoyed Sunday's race and was gutted for Grosjean.

American football has done really well with holding a handful of events in Europe, regularly selling out Wembley Stadium and the new White Hart Lane.
It’s hard to imagine an Indycar event somewhere like Brands or Donington not selling an awful lot of tickets, if they were sensibly priced, say £100 or £150 for the weekend including camping.
My parents used to live a couple of villages form Rockingham. You could hear the cars from a *long* way away.

Can't say I've ever had a problem with today's street circuits nor do I find them identikit.
Would love to see another super-speedway like Michigan but would never happen in reality.
Penske doesn't want international races because Indycar still needs to grow in America - the average Joe would have heard who Lewis Hamilton is than an Indycar driver.
NFL is saturated. That's why NFL is looking to expand into Europe and Indycar finishes in September.
