Yes - depending on how long that lasts.
Yeah, I see the Chinese are now turning their backs on BMW and similar EU brands.

I was looking at the figures the other day, and most of the EU brands are really, really losing market share at an incredible rate.

They have gone from a 6-12 month wait for BMWs, Mercs, Audis, VWs etc. to now having 3 months worth of stock sat ready for delivery and that is growing larger by the week.

The reality is, as they move to EV, they have their own brands that do it as well, or arguably better, for considerably less money.

China are brining in new emission laws that mean many of the EU marques can't even be sold over there.
The dealers are offering massive discounts.

It just goes to show, don't put all your eggs in one basket.

Just tried to find some info. Just skimmed the video, but this looks like it covers it quite well.

I was with a Chinese supplier on Monday and she explained that if you want to buy an ICE (at least in the Shenzen area, but she believes is nationwide) you need to buy the numberplate first, which is about 40.000 RMB -or 4.700 £ at today's rate-, but their local DVLA doesn't release new numberplates, you need to wait until they pull an old one off.

So basically the number of ICE cannot increase, but they release new numberplates for EVs for free. A new Model 3 costs 38.000 US$ there and you can get them off the court and drive away.

And as you said, there are a number of local brands making EVs for good money, so yes foreign manufacturers are truly screwed.
