Given that BTG is F1's official podcast Tom Clarkson isn't having to do much work to get the guests on...Must say though he's starting at the bottom isn't he? Who's next, spanky max? Admittedly not, but getting HAM to sit down for a full and frank hours talk was very good imho.TC does really well imho, though I think he needs to think about future episodes as a lot of his subjects could fill an hours talk with one single event in their lives.

Was that not the race where they tried to impose team orders and let one of them through. I think it might have been a "Lewis is faster than you" moment" and Nico didn't yield or threw his toys out the pram. All the outlandish investments, the only I’ve heard of before was the semi sensible ice cream bar in Ibiza.
I’ll be interested in what really happened when it all comes out..

I didn’t think so. I thought she came across as very honest and quite humble. She’s not the type to big herself up. Her recounting her life growing up within F1 was quite illuminating. I guess we are more used to the guys playing politics and being bolshy.
that's exactly the point though. Name me a TP who comes across as very honest and humble. Then thrown into the shark pool you have Clair and, with the best will in the world, her "OMG well wouldn't you believe it I'm in charge" doesn't sit quite right. But of course she isn't a TP, is she? And what should we read into that. Personally I ponder if frank, lurking there in the background, can't hack the type of person who manages a sucessfull team coming in and taking over "his" team.Teddy Lop said:

Got to respect his decision to retire, yes he could have achieved many more race wins, he might be a bitter old bugger on some subjects but like Prost, Lauda at least get to hear the views of the these greats, unfortunately we will never know the views of some that have been taken from us.
I wouldn't say Claire is out of her depth but I do understand the criticisms. Deputy Team Principal says a lot, leader by proxy most likely IMO due to political reasons to stave off the threat of customer cars and the Haas/FI model of running an F1 car.
Martin Whitmarsh came across as a nice bloke, down to earth guy for most parts - I remember he said FTA coverage was important for F1 and did a 180 when Sky secured TV coverage and how great it would for teams to be remunerated.
No Martini stripes next year. Its a good test at Claire's mettle at weathering the storms.

I'm also a big fan of 'Beyond the Grid'. The interviewer's approach is very much Simon Reeve, Louis Theroux, Parkinson etc, where he encourages the interviewee to open up and chat, and I really like that. He has some amazing guests on - to get an hour of time from Lewis, Jackie and Claire Williams is very impressive.
Listened to Hamilton and Webber on a long flight today, fascinating stuff.
The long form conversation isn't unusual to podcasts, but it is for F1 so it's nice go deep with these guys.
Have to say it took me 10 minutes go get into the Webber one because of the background noise, takes a bit of concentration.
