HNY! Good luck with the bet!

We're very similar - I'm 40 and I've just managed to cut off 0.6 so back down to 9.0 but still up from 9 months ago at 7.3.

Like you I'm also starting to think golf stretching/exercise is becoming more important. Although had a few hours on a Trackman simulator last week and still getting the driver up to 108mph and irons around the 90mph mark.

I would love to get back to 7.0 by the end of the year, which I think is doable if I make sure I play and practice every week!
Aye I'm very much the same - haven't lost any distance yet that I can tell. Haven't been on Trackman for a while but according to TopTracer at the range I usually use I'm still about 160 mph (adjusted) with the Driver. I just have days where it feels like my legs are made of lead and I can't turn and shift my weight properly, usually resulting in all sorts of unpleasant blocks/hooks.
I would love either of those driver numbers. Hey I would even take driver club head speed in triple figures!

I'm down at around 93mph club head speed with the driver and have got down to 4.0 in 2022 so that shows what scope you guys have with your numbers.

A combination of squatting and stretching has really helped my hip/lower body mobility. Before I worked on it I was very partial to a block, I can highly recommend lower body work.

Just don’t try and play the day after a heavy leg day! That was a disaster.

First round on Sunday after 6 months of not picking up a club.

Goals for this year

Improve iron striking to gain distance (and as a reward get fitted for new ones)
Eventually sort out getting handicap after playing sporadically for the last 2 years
Break 90 at some point this year
Actually get moneys worth from membership

For loweer body work I bought one of these many moons ago when I was an occasional snowboarder:

https://vewdo.com/products/zippy-balance-board

I've found it really good for things like balance (obviously), lower body strength and mobility, but also controlling where your weight is in order to keep from falling over (you need to keep your centre of gravity over the roller). I also used to be able to do the odd trick on it but getting way too old for that now hehe Sadly didn't have access to it last season as it got lost in our house move, but I found it over Xmas and it keeps me busy on conference calls smile

I shall keep an eye our for some stretches and other workout stuff and will happily share what I find. I'd been using this one I found on Golf Digest ages ago - I don't have the equipment for all the exercises but there are a few I can get started with:

Very nice - out of interest how to do you find the Shot Scope rangefinder? I pickedone up 18 months ago and it seems a pretty decent bit of kit for the price, I'm just having issues with the pin auto-lock as it keeps locking to trees 30 yards behind the green....

To be honest, it's complete brand new and it hasn't been near a course yet (same for the irons, UW and wedges). I did try it on a neighbour's flag pole and seemed spot on hehe

I have the club tags for data recording too which looks good..

Anyone got a Garmin G12 GPS thing? I know it would be better to have a watch such as Fenix with everything on but I already have a Garmin watch and wondered if its worth getting the G12. Only £122 on Amazon too

Ah yes, I had the V2 version of the watch with the tags and it was a cracking bit of kit - needed a little adjusting after the round to make sure it picked everything up but the data it provided was incredible. It could tell you all sorts of weird and wonderful stats about the round and for your game overall.

Only stopped using it as it was another casualty of the move, but have dug it out now so may take a look next season.

I don't mind the post-round analysis. I was using the Garmin version with the watch but it was flakey to say the least

I managed to bag a BNIB Garmin G12 off eBay for £75 just before Christmas and I think it's ideal.

It gives bunker and hazard distances, front to back, and front/middle/back of green yardages and that's all I ever wanted from a GPS unit.

The most noticeable difference it's made to my game is approach play and playing into greens with more confidence e.g. back pin, back of green is 140yds, full PW can't go long so just pick your line and swing. Same goes for a front pin, front of green is 110yd, full GW is 115yds, away you go...
I always used to pace shots off the course markers but that's only ever as good as your 'yard-stride' and isn't that simple when you're on the angle but with the GPS I just trust it and play.

I found it part of the fun in all honesty smile However ime there wasn't a huge amount to do for me, normally just adding provisionals (that was a bit complex on the course and easier done at home), making sure the pins were accurate and that was about it.

Damn, I'm looking at the V3 watch now....

Good work with your ebay bargain.

Think I might give it a go and see how it plays on sunday. Also did you clip to belt like a pensioner with a Nokia 3310 or just in pocket?

What Garmin watch do you currently have?

I have the Garmin Vivoactive 4 and the golf function on that does 95% of what I need for distances when out on the course.

I use the MScorecard App and with my iWatch it gives yardages but no idea how accurate they are vs a range finder or watch?

Not sure on the iWatch, however I have a Fitbit Sense which I downloaded a yardage app onto, and from cross referencing with dedicated GPS watches and range finders, it seems pretty accurate - certainly close enough for the level we play at anyway.

The Golf function on a Garmin Fenix 6 is fine for front / middle / back yardages...

Thats good then. To be honest im not good enough to hit exact yardages but its at least handy to know a rough guideline

I have the Garmin S12 which is similar except it's a watch item.

Got it for £85 in an Amazon offer.

Gives the distances fine , my partners are always asking me the distance for their next shots !!!
