Automotive Vloggers (Vol. 5)

Youtube does this though its just part of the landscape where a category/segment will blow up be a fad then fade away as viewers get bored or get older and move on.
A few years ago Zoella and her pals would all be pulling in huge views think they where called the Britpack but as the audience matured and moved on the views dropped off and youtube stopped pushing the vlog style video in the algorithm.
The problem is content creators want to make as much money as possible so push out more videos which intern just speeds up the losing of interest because its very hard to have interesting content every day especially if you have a very rigid format for your video such as Doug or Shmee.

He was in hospital at the end of September, posted a pic on IG early Oct... A week or two later they posted another old(er) photo which put people in a panic before reading the description. Not much in the way of updates since but from the comments etc he seems to be on the mend slowly.The opening bit about Gears And Gasoline Ben being in hospital with Covid was news to me, he has a couple of great cars and does great videos. Hope he recovers soon

Ashville is still my go to YT. Its a channel wrapped around a business and despite some of the cheese when Yannni is about its good viewing

Dennis Collins channel is great. Driving round picking up cool cars and then off to a local restaurant for a pile of food. I'm surprised he isn't the size of a house One thing I'm noticing is that channels that show a business, versus channels that are the business, are far more interesting. If you compare against this time last year, is it that different? I don't think YouTube would specifically push automotive less, or people are looking at their phones more. I've had a big dip on my channel compared to the summer peak but I've not been able to make as many videos, so it's not too surprising.
Does anyone want to play a game? I think we've done this before but a distraction from the Shmee rumours and other soap drama. What does your YT homepage look like? If you go to YouTube.com, what's the first 8?
It's interesting how the algorithm/etc works based on what you will see here.
Of those 8 videos, I only subscribe to 1 (SuperspeedersRob) and I haven't watched him for years, but I guess that video is doing quite well for him and that's why it's being promoted (?)
The GTA videos, I've been watching some lately, so YouTube throws 25% of the recommendations that way
The suggestions at the top are interesting too. None of those are things I've searched for, but keywords built from my activity on YouTube. Some of it very recent, some of it ancient
It's interesting because, like a lot of you, I've noticed the automotive channels I subscribe to getting less views, apart from The Stradman. He regularly hits 750k+, and in the past few months has had multiple 1M+ videos in a row. The content of those videos I wouldn't say was any different to many other automotive YouTubers, just the usual sort of thing - new car, new mods, in trouble with the police for something minor, should I buy this, my friend has this etc.
Whilst I appreciate he won't appeal to a large portion of the PH userbase, I enjoy watching his videos in an "on in the background" sort of way and appreciate how he's built the channel up from the very ground, but I'm not sure I can work out what he's doing any differently to those who are struggling? Or maybe the American YouTubers aren't struggling as much, as I notice DDE are probably slightly up on where they were a year ago on average, aside from the occasional 1M video they had last year. I watch every Stradman video, pretty much the only channel I do that for. I do think the widebody thing is getting a little old, but it's mixed in with different stuff so isn't overkill. Looking forward to more house build stuff too. He's flying, what I love is that he brought his friends along on the ride like Burlacher and Stefan, whose own channels are now doing really well too. All very wholesome.
DDE appeals to the more 'bro' type of american I think, but again they're doing crazy views. I still enjoy watching TJ Hunt as well, he's maturing well and has good content if you ignore the 'Sheeeeeesh' stuff.
From the UK I only really watch STG, Carfection, Harry, GF Williams and the odd Shmee/Shmuseum video these days.
Still watch lots of other content on Youtube though, Life Uncontained for house build stuff, Peter McKinnon for camera/filming stuff, Van Neistat for just odd dad type vlogs, James Hoffman for coffee stuff etc

Good call that one.I went down to Caffeine & Machine the other week to meet up with a couple of PH mates with their Carrera GT's (there werew about 15 there in total) and was part way through listening to the Sam Moores podcast with G F Williams when I arrived.
Didn't know anything of him, although I vaguely recognised name from dim and distant PH past. Then met him there - he was a mate of a mate sort of thing. Purely chance. Nice chap.
Very interested in his Exige and will watch that channel.

Dennis Collins comes across as a great guy and I really enjoy his content. I do wish he would let us know what happens to the cars we see him buy though. Yeah boyz!

I really have stuck with the race videos due to your spot on additional thought text as we go through the race with you. I appreciate that it takes a lot of effort on top of editing, but it works for me and helps me feel involved in the race.
I loved the rear shot about three quarters of the way through when you overtake the orange BMW E30 and it's tipping into the corner while sliding.

The 675LT does indeed look lovely, nice colour and nice interior. However, I question how long before something goes wrong, I did not see him use a torque wrench once in all of the videos for this car. Mclaren engineers must have itchy teeth seeing him do up important stuff 'tight' or 'tighter' and that's it.
