It's a great package with some unique features: lightweight glass, 'different' manual box, short stick, side stickers|!

Porsche will sell every one easily.

If you could knock off the 20" wheels and the farting exhaust I'd be more keen- two things that don't help the driving experience.
It's a shame it's nearly there though, for someone who wants to "drive" a new car with 4 seats.
It's still pricey though at 90 odd k. 10 too much compared to a standard c2, or one could have a lightly spec'd S for similar money. Though speccing a manual on the normal carrera's wouldn't be the cleverest for resale.

I'd put the rear seats and PCM back in, and maybe just the interior pack to brighten the cabin up a bit. And floor mats.

The weight saving is so minor compared to the standard 911, by the time you put that back in, you are not really achieving much.

Porsche realises that we like exclusivity and 'rare' models but personally I just can't see this being a must have car. It doesn't appear stripped out enough to be a 'spider' and the less sound deadening makes little or no difference on the GTS which is no doubt what they have done on this. They cant give it more HP as it will eat into 911S sales perhaps so they have gone for the stripped out drivers car. Ny the time you put the creature comforts back in - it's practically a normal 911 with a different badge on the back.

Having said all that, I'll probably love itlaughlaugh

Poor choice of words from myself../more to accentuate the weight saving...and that’s weight saving in the best possible place.

I'd agree, that for the 'T' to stand out from the mainstream models, it needs a more focussed spec.

Lightness and simplicity would be the key factors - so definitely pccbs and buckets, probably folding, no rear seats, but then judicious care with the luxury options - pcm, cruise, etc.

Can it have the 'ducktail'?

Amen, would then be the pick of the range excluding the GT3s. I'd take one over a GTS, you don't need 450bhp for road fun, in fact that much power with turbo delivery makes it less fun unless you just enjoy hoofing it in a straight line.

My spec would be like the launch .yellow. with bose , Pcm and rear seats. The interior pack should be std !.
If this was 80 rather than 90 i would get one.

I think a 718 2.o cayman t would go down really well....

Exactly, at 80 it'd be a runner I think. Not that 80 isn't a whole lot of money either!

er a basic car is £77k and you get the PCM and rear seats on it !!! gives you £3k left to add bose at £1k and £2k change if you fancy the PSE lol

just sayin ;-)

That's the only negative for me - price. Spec wise I think it's ok - it's a T not an S, GTS or GT3. It's an entry level "base" model and should be priced as an entry level base model. Pitching it at the same price as an S makes does take a bit of desirability out of it (for me).

http://www.porschepassion.com/911t.htm

"The 911T was added to the line up in 1968 as the "Touring" form of the 911. The 911T had the 2.0 liter engine, but with only 110 horsepower. The T was the "base" model, costing 10% less that its more powerful brother, the 911S. As of 1969, the 911T got the 2" lengthening in its wheelbase as did the other 911s. It retained its Weber carburetor while the other 911s received Mechanical FI."

Currently would much rather buy a base Carrera and spec it as I please up to aprox £85k.

That's unless once the reviews come in & they think that (like the GTS) the small changes like shorter gearing & mech limited slip diff actually create a car that feels drastically different to the base carrera. But v skeptical, especially with such minimal weight-loss & I'd need back seat anyway!

Base car is £78k and T is £86k.
T gets thin glass a different front splitter, some stickers and less sound insulation which Imo makes no difference.
It also gets 20" inch alloys and PSE which IMHO does not add to the driving experience!
That leaves you with only 3 items worth having the sports PASM and close ratio box for your £8k difference!" Forgot the LSD"
PCM and rear seats standard on C2 but is a no cost option for T

I said the base car ie the base 911 in the range at £77k ;-) as the poster said he wants PCM, rear seats etc, So I stated just to buy the base model and save money as it comes with PCM and rear seats any way.

the T is too expensive and the spec is not what people want, but they are selling loads so what do I know.

shame the CS style of cars is not made any more.

I thought the rear seats were standard in the T and you had to have them, only way to have no rear seats was to spec the full buckets. and imo that's not a nice seat.
the seating is not clear, but in the press release the T has rear seats. and the rear seat delete happens of you spec full buckets.

No ducktail on 991.2....something to do with the Turbo's and the vents that are low down on the rear of the car.

I'd say PSE and less sound deadening def add to the driving experience for a lot of people. Better noise and more of it tends to make a Porsche more enjoyable IME

it's funny that the PCM is a no-cost option on the T, anyone who doesn't choose it (so they can actually get the -20kg) really ought to have then just remove it and stick it on ebay or ask porsche if they can have it in a doggybag

The LWB is not a nice seat? Really?

I think they're great, I wish I could have had them in my CGTS.
