I don't want to get lynched in this thread lol, officially 7.8 quite a few of the rounds recently have been under this though. Goal this year is 5 or better.
With those numbers I don't think you are setting your handicap target low enough...

You are in effect making all but the longest par 4's a drive and a wedge, and should be having good birdie opportunities on most par 5's.

Your 4 iron is equivalent to my driver in terms of distance and I am currently off 5.1. If I had your numbers I think I would be pushing towards a plus handicap.

Ahh but golf is hard, and striking the ball well is what, 33% of it at most?

I love how ridiculously hard golf is, you can hit the ball amazingly, then you have to face chipping and putting!

I'd rather over achieve than under lol

Consistency and short game also need to keep improving, I'm amazing at getting close to short par 4s on the drive and struggling to make par.

I can spend hours in the garage on the sim with everything coming together and then you turn up on a Sunday morning and wonder where it's all gone.

I go to a trackman range currently, and could easily fool myself into thinking I'm going to shoot very low when I play next!

I hope you meet/exceed your goals this year, I'd personally leave the driver swing alone if it's functional, and you hit the ball straight with it.

It's golf - it's 99% in your head!!

I can get to say the 12th hole, add up my score and give myself a target to reach by the end of the round. Amazingly, I nearly always get to that target.

It's all about having a positive mindset and not thinking too many swing thoughts when you're playing.

I'm pretty good at chipping and putting, so quite often I'll get up and down which helps!

I agree with it mainly being in your head although I'm the opposite, show me my scorecard on the 12th when I'm having a decent round and I'll find a way to put at least 1 snowman on the card.

Haha, yeah if I'm playing well and think I've got a score on I won't look!

Agreed that is lovely. I like how Scotty has gone back to the finishes from around 10 years ago, with the milled faces and cherry bombs after his unfortunate dalliance with inserts.

Just made a purchase of my own, my Motocaddy Cube is on its last legs with the handbrake basically non functional now. Tried to source some new wheels but seems they aren't available right now.

So I've ordered a Motocaddy M5 GPS Standard range which should be here in the week. Seems a bit OTT having an app for a golf trolley that also has Bluetooth and WiFi (I think I read) but it will save me buying a separate GPS watch.

That Scotty is lovely!

Luckily dodged the rain today!

As some of you have read on here, I've been having serious issues with my putting which was stopping me getting any lower....
Well, I think I've fixed it. After getting obsessed with being left eye dominant I did some research and watched a few videos to try and understand the solution. Couple of videos suggested using a line on the ball (which isn't rocket science to be fair!).

I had tried it before but couldn't trust the alignment as it always looked 'off' when stood over it. Spent about an hour on the practise green today and went through the process, lined up, checking the alignment, checking the line on the ball again and then just trusting the line on the ball and line on the putter were correct and my eyes aren't...

Did it on every putt during the round later on, 29 putts (about 5 under my recent average), holed some lovely ones for birdie and par and even left about 4 in the jaws (forgetting to hit it when falling in love with the line hehe)

Even the putts that missed had a chance which is a huge step on when I was previously miles out.
Shot 74 (+2)

Well chuffed.

Haven’t posted here in a while. Moved house in Jan so that has taken much of my focus.

Played yesterday for the first time since November, rained for 3 hours and I forgot my brolly which was nice. Brightened up for the 18th hole.

3 blobs on the card, mostly from bad tee shots but not a bas start to my season.

So very lovely - But they really do look better with the red on them

I have a Newport 2 and love it as my go to putter. Also have a counter balanced Phantom X, its quite the putter too

Callaway were at my club (Woodbury park) last week so booked an iron fitting...

Thought they might of had deals on last year's clubs (they didn't, forgive my naivety)

Tried the new apex (std), rogue st, and paradym. Apex was the best although I'm not convinced it's game changing when compared to my old Nike slingshots.

Got sent the price through with our 10% discount... £966 for 6 apex irons... I won't be investing. Might try mavrik again and see if I can be convinced...

Wow, Nike slingshots! Do you mind me asking what year they are? My friend had some.

I have 2006 Wilson Pi5 irons, I'm likely to change this year, but I don't think I could honestly justify the change other than that I want some new shiny irons, and perhaps that my 5 iron is shorter than I'd like.

The Scotty above is so so nice, hope it brings you joy Danny smile

Callaway have a pre owned page for drivers/woods, but not sure if they do irons.

Iron prices are a complete joke, I bought some AP2 716's when they came out and just maintain the more used ones (7/6) by eBay buys and reshaft myself.
