Collected the car this morning, and over the moon.

The paint is all fresh, and any rust has been removed. In addition to the paint, he had cleaned up all the trims which had been ruined during previous poor paintwork, and fitted new horns I supplied whilst the bumper was off anyway (the low tone horn was inoperative, hence new horns were needed). Additionally, PPF was put on the bottom of the front arches where these really love to chip and shed paint.

Due to mail strikes, the ‘Boxster’ badge at the rear never arrived in time, nor did the shorter plate I had en route, so these will be fitted over winter whilst it’s stored.

Over the moon with it.

I'd be fascinated to know how much dollar you're looking at for a job like this. If you're not happy to share here please pm me.

PM’d you!

For benefit of others, I can tell you that 55hrs of work went into it overall though, so 55x£Hr rate + materials.

Cheers! Have to say myself I’m surprised how different the car looks, shows just how tired it looked beforehand.

Thanks for this, looks very reasonable imo.

No bother!!

Just need to sort the interior now, namely the centre stack.

Car looks awesome - really enjoyed reading the whole thread. Which body shop did you use for this? Looks like they’ve done a great job!

I’d also be interested to know a rough cost if you’re happy to PM! I’d love to do something similar but no idea on pricing.

It was Kirkton Motor Body in Banchory, Aberdeenshire - you’ll find them on Maps, Facebook, Instagram etc but no website.

Will PM you!

Short plate on.

MOT booked for Monday.

Also enquired about the PCCM+ System from Porsche. Will see what the total cost comes to.

Wash prior to MOT tomorrow... quick drive to chuck some fuel in, and because it’s been sitting tempting me.

Cheers Krikkit!

Added some LED headlight bulbs today - no warning or error lights, difference is night and day!

Need to sort the side lights though, they’re rough.

That’s a great improvement. I could do with sorting mine, it hardly gets driven in the dark in areas without streetlights however Mrs SB took it out the other evening and had a strop about the crap standard.

Are these bulbs MoT friendly?

Unfortunately as far as I’m aware, no! I plan to just switch over before next MOT due…

Recently managed to get a vast amount of interior trim which I needed, off a parts car. I took the GTI and loaded it up with tools to deconstruct a 987 interior.
Took me an hour or so to get all the parts I needed out, they’ll need a good clean, but other than that are perfect.

Struggled for time to fit them as yet, but managed the fit the Sun visors when I had the car out at the weekend. Seems a common issue on these that they begin to sag, not holding in their upright position.

Very easy job. 2 x T30 screws (image 1) on the outer side of each visor, and 1 x T20 screw (image 2) on the inner of each. The T20 hides behind a plastic flap, assuming for aesthetic reasons more than anything.

Forgot to take pictures to document full before and after, but see below for what I did get.

After fitting; poor I know…

Got the car out today with the decent weather. Tops down and plenty other likeminded petrolheads out enjoying their bikes and cars.

The 987 now meets the criteria to qualify as a classic through Porsche, bringing a welcome kit, discounted rates, I think some free valets too; though I may pass on the valets.
