Don't forget the Express and their usual stream of nonsense along those lines.

Usually I would be praying for a tough winter.

Not this year, my energy tarrif is awful so I will be praying for a mild one this year.

Ideally I’d like a few days of decent snow in the middle of a really mild winter.
I always feel cheated if we don’t get a big snowfall at some point.

Me too - I love a good dose of snowy weather as much as anyone but I walked out at one of the local reservoirs today and it looks nearly empty. Together with the energy bills I think what we desperately need is a mild and wet winter. Boring, but if it’s a cold, dry one, we’re a bit screwed!

Note: on this occasion “here” was Agden Reservoir at Low Bradfield near Sheffield, but to be honest there are 9 or 10 reservoirs within a 10 mile radius of “here” and they’re all worryingly low.

Bizarrely enough Aberdeenshire is at risk of low water levels, again due to drier winters.
Our house is on a spring supply (rather than mains) and we actually ran out for a few days in summer.

Canadian Prairies , started snowing just before dawn with probably 3 inches so far , going to continue well into tomorrow . For once we have the F1 race at a decent time here but the weather has wiped out the satellite signal , slightly pissed off now .

Turns out we got just under a foot of wet snow thanks to a Colorado low ( cheers once again Jimmy) , clearing this morning was heavy work but back up to plus 10 come the weekend with sunshine so only did what was needed . Some highways still closed rolleyes

YW. All we got was our first genuine freeze of the year. Fortunately, not much of one as I texted my sprinkler guy-

'When are you doing blowouts this year?'
'I should have told you I moved to Florida'.

I've got a week or so of freezes before the new guy comes round. Ground temp should still be above freezing, hopefully.

We had snow on and off throughout the day here in the Colorado high country, with temperatures starting out at 19f. Looks like more snow later this week as well.

I'm looking forward to spring already. biggrin

Backflow preventer and riser are drained, manifold is boxed in ground, should be fine.

Having had a nasty thought, I checked last night and found that the plumbers who replaced my water inlet restrictor (bad water hammer) did indeed refill the pipe to the pressure vacuum breaker. fkers (could at least have told me). Drained it again, should be good.

And it begins. Light snow, settling on houses and grassy areas. Air temp is above freezing so I can't see it lasting for long.

In for the warmest UK winter on record.

October been fairly mild - only half a frost so far.

That would be great but then we’d have to put up with the tree huggers telling us we’re doomed.
