EJ was excellent. At least one exclusive info on there. It sets a very high standard.
I especially enjoyed the bit about the bailiffs!

Great interview with Alain Prost this week.
DR joining the team
His time with Lauda as team mate
Why he didn’t become WDC with Renault (and how the team is different now)
His relationship with Senna and how Senna came to be at McLaren
Etc etc.

And he's lighter now then when he was a driver! TC not quite on his 'A' game but another good episode.

I think TC is a good interviewer. He rarely asks closed questions and invites the subject to give more detail and information. I haven't listened to all yet. The EJ one is better that I thought it would be and fair play to him, he made a lot of money taking risks.
I have to say, I think he is a really good interviewer. What I like is he asks the question and actually lets the other guy answer it. Seems like a rare quality in an interviewer these days!
The EJ interview made me laugh for that reason. TC asked him if he could name the private investor who had wrangled him some money in nefarious circumstances. EJ said he couldn't name him. TC let that sit, and within 0.2 seconds EJ had blurted out the guy's full name, address, date of birth and national insurance number hehe
EJ was refreshing but set the template for his pal vijay to continue running a business badly.
Punching above your weight seems to mean climbing out the toilet window after the slap up meal with Jordan and force india.

Listened to most of it on the commute home. I thought he came across quite fake, trying too hard to convince that he's having a great time post retirement.

He also clearly doesn't have enough distance to speak openly about his career, a little too much bravado when talking about his former teammates still.

Some interesting thoughts on Vettel though.

I’m roughly half way through, as above and he’s not very open, I’m thinking he was kicked out of the team rather than retiring...

Listened to it yesterday, seemed very upbeat until Tom kept pressing him on his time with Lewis, seemed to become a big cagey and less chatty. He’s obviously still not comfortable talking about certain aspects of it.

Agreed. Nico unwilling to admit that Lewis was objectively the better racer and wasn't a dirty, ruthless driver that he thinks (still?). The only thing he did admit was that it all stemmed from Bahrain 2014 which says it all. He's been struggling with the right answers on how to beat Lewis in a straight wheel to wheel fight since.

This was my thought too.

All the "dear listeners" was pretty fake sounding to me.

It also sounds like he's going to blow a load of dosh on bizarre "investments".

The Prost interview was brilliant even if it was another Prost FAQs. Prost has a willingness to speak and with strong emotions - still burned by the Senna movie (rightly so IMO). He had an urgency to speak his side when talking about Senna. Tones and emotions never get quite captured when reading interviews which is arguably why podcasts are superior to written interviews.

He's still trying to prove something. The eco-investments, the shoddy attempt at hosting his own podcast, I even vaugely recall a bit of social justice something or other. He comes across as desperately trying to stay relevant. And very defensive, when questioned if he'd drive today's car for a weekend if toto came knocking he rubbished the idea, its like he has to defend his choice and saying he'd go back would undermine that.

I enjoyed the Rosberg/Flávio one, switched the Bernie one off after 5.

All the outlandish investments, the only I’ve heard of before was the semi sensible ice cream bar in Ibiza.

I’ll be interested in what really happened when it all comes out..

Can’t remember the race when he said it all kicked off Maylasia 2014?

Maybe I'll give it a listen, avoided his output after the dreadfull attempt that was the bernie interview, which was practically a how-not-to of interviewing.

Must say though he's starting at the bottom isn't he? Who's next, spanky max? Doesn't anyone popular want to talk to him? Compare to Tom clarkson who got Hamilton for his first or second podcast (not that nico wants a favour off lewis lol). Again nico missing the subtleties.

I’d say wear headphones Flávio is a quick talker easy to miss words, I watched on it on you tube so some visual as well, watch Nico constantly go for his phone.

& Tom clarkson has been around the paddock for 15yrs? & regularly hosts the proper FIA press conferences, the drivers know him well.

Hopefully they can get Brawn and some of the engineers on in the future IMO.
