Went from a 458 to an LP-740 Aventador S - another level can't compare the two cars - the 458 is the drivers car but the Aventador is just an event. The v12 pops and crackles on an overrun is something out of this world and at £250k for one of the good ones its a bargain if it can be called one!
I think if I go down the Aventador route it will be an SV, purely as it's a limited numbers model and the big f*ck off rear wing (who needs rear visibility anyway).

Not sure why you would be scared of using it because it’s slightly older. It’s not made out of cheese, they are quite robust.

Not sure the 458 quite counts as a classic yet either.
Surely the best time to buy an older car is before anyone thinks of it as a 'classic'.

488 here, much prefer it to the Perf Spyder that it replaced. There is no right or wrong answer, just get what you like.

Are they Daytona (carbon) race seats?

I’ve be looking at a few forums on this but I’m just under 6’4 and I can’t get comfortable in an R8 or a McLaren 570. I’m going to hopefully look at a 488 coupe on Tuesday but what I really want is a spider. I take it I need the Goldrake seats to get comfortable ?
On the Ferrari website there is a yellow spider which I would love but it doesn’t have the lift. Annoyingly I have a slight slope into my garage and have had no problem getting 911 GTS into but it’s close. Is this lift vital as I really want to go into Europe driving if I bought one.

Many thanks

Be very surprised if you needed lift… my 488 Spider had more ground clearance than my business partners 991GTS. (Had it on my 458 and never needed it so didn’t bother on 488). Re the seats…. Stacks of leg room in the GTB… the spider has less leg room… both cars will have you close to the headliner depending on your proportions. Being a long legged 6’3…. I was just comfortable in the Spider with seat travel and that’s with the carbon race seats. You can’t tilt the seats in this format so not quite as much under thigh support for very long trips, although I found extremely comfortable for a couple of hours at a time. The GTB with full electrics will over will offer more adjustability (tilt and more leg room) but sounds like it’s the Spider you are after. Just going to 100% have to try both and don’t commit before doing this. Absolutely loved my 488 Spider; enjoy your search.

For my money a 458 was only a worthy investment if you bought one as they touched 100K - now you've got a very inflated market, with crippling finance costs (if going that way) and the only way to truly preserve the car's value is to not drive it.

I went down the route of the 430 Scuderia because I felt it also represented a "last of" (the analogue cars), and being a special series it also means come sale time you've less competition. I still don't class it as an investment though, more an exercise in "how little can I lose while still enjoying it"
"last of" - last of the awful, robotised manual gearbox? I think it is quite a stretch to say a car with an E-diff, programmable dampers and a set of paddles represents 'analogue'. It's an artificial justification, with respect. The 'special series' part I get, and it's that which maintains a 430 Scuderia's position above a 458. All in my humble opinion, obviously.

Depends where you live. I can't get a non-nose lift car on my drive and I don't have an extreme drop curb. Also lots of areas, petrol stations etc. where I scrape if I don't have it on.

If / when you come to sell it, having lift will make it easier.

I wasn't a fan of the comfort seats, they didn't really grip when I got on the power, I felt my self sliding all over the place!

If I was to buy right now, my vote would be for the 430 scuderia. I couldn't see the big problem with the robotised manual on my f430, if anything it was more of an occasion driving it than my 458 italia was.
When you consider running costs and dealer cut, none of the cars at this level are ever a reliable investment. As already has been said, minimising the depreciation loss whilst enjoying an amazing car is the way to go. If you want an investment, buy a property and rent it lol.

Sat here waiting on what they are going to offer me for my car against a very high spec spider. I fell in love with it and it’s got a lovely spec too.

I just cant see the value in a 992 gts when these are priced at this level. The 488 makes current Porsche pricing look ridiculous.

Well done, chipper. Always pleasing when someone actually does the deed rather than just tyre kicking. Enjoy the car.

nice

I agree that porsche prices are insane, I looked at the 992 gts and properly spec'd it was £150k

It’s subject to a test drive but fell for it pretty much straight away. Going down next Tuesday to sort the paperwork and my little Trophy R has to go as I’ve only a single garage but I’m certainlylooking forward to the summer !
