Don't get mass opinion mixed up with what Gary (GRP430F1) writes, he's just single handedly and unsuccessfully trying to talk prices down.

Everyone seems to be getting blinded by prices and forgetting CS owners have been boring people relentlessly for years on how great these cars are.

What's happening now it just what was always going to happen....

And maybe in 10 years limited edition performantes may do the same  . . . But I doubt it .....
I'm not interested in talking CS prices up or down as I don't own one and I don't want to own one ( never have ).
I may add a little balance to the discussion and a word of caution to anyone thinking of parting with their life savings because of all the "hype" that the CS is worth £200k ?
As Russell says its driven by supply and demand and what someone is prepared to pay but IMHO the car has possibly gone from undervalued to massively overvalued in the last 18 months and far from being a crash a price adjustment could occur.
I would hate for a poor enthusiast, like myself, pay top dollar for a car thinking they were quids in and only to see it go south when the current bubble bursts.

Personally I think the F430 scuderia is expensive for what it is but I would have that over a CS everyday of the week for the same price.
I looked at a couple but when they wanted £40k ( nearly another 50% ) on top of my 2009 F1 spider I just couldn't see that kind of value in the upgrade for how and what I use the car for.

I can remember when my Eurodisney shares were worth £20 so don't take my advice frown

It's not even 18 months, I would say more like 6 is the big move.

This must be the most expensive CS of all time to date?
Id take the black 16m in the PH classifieds for straight swoppies, maybe.....

Recent price increases have driven me to clean my car and thats saying something. I still had a crust of flies on the front since my trip to Lochinver in May.

I really don't get why you are clearly upset at the incredible rise in prices? Did yo want a Stradale and were priced out of the market and settled for your (lovely) Lambo instead?

NOTHING drives like a Stradale, its such an incredible machine. I brought a 430 spider F1 this week finally for my missus, its nice to drive and all, but by god my Strad totally blows it away as a drivers car, I couldn't believe how soft the 430 was in comparison.

No wonder none of us are selling, Stradales are fast becoming irreplaceable, hence the high prices. I cant see them slowing until they reach £200k.

People aren't suddenly buying them because they've finally realised its a good car, they are buying them because they think they will make money.

Also, these cars at top prices are all going through the same dealer. Does that mean the market as a whole is at this level? Couldn't they just be trying to set the market. As an aside, I can't sell my Scud for love nor money and it's the cheapest one in the country. Bonkers.

Where is your Scud advertised mate?

FWIW I think people are snapping CS's up because they are on that sudden upward climb that sometimes happens with special Ferraris. When I think back 8 years when I brough my nearly new 360 spider, F40s were £150kish, 246 Dinos were sub £100k. Look where they are now..... Strad will be the next one to go, trust me.

As I have said before I'm more than happy for these cars to go up in value as I have never lusted after one and wouldn't buy one at any price. Quite frankly £300k wouldn't come close to pricing me out of the market and if we are going there I'd much rather buy a F40.
The more they go up the more my Lambo seems a real bargain and there will be a point when CS's are so rare and expensive peoples attention may switch on to the comparative bargain of the century in the LP570-4.
IMHO the Lambo is far more of a car than both the CS and Scuderia for what I personally want from a car. Being a convertible only adds to the occasion and experience something neither coupe offer. Everyone is different and wants something different from their vehicle

So good luck to the CS and all you lucky owners. I personally cant see the value in CS even at £120k let alone these £160k prices but I guess its a bitter pill that you have a car that's so good you can't drive it for fear of reducing its price and that if you cash in you lose a irreplaceable car.

Afterall its only money and my cars are purely my big boys toys not my investments for which I have houses and pension plans

Hmmm dunno about the Lambo being far more of a car, its an event to drive and I agree convertibles add to the whole Supercar experience (thats why Ive just brought a 430 spider). As something to cruise and pose in, the Lambo wins, for a tactile drivers car, the Strad wins. I drove a G spider on track last week and I was frankly shocked by its lack of ability, horrendous turn in followed by bucket loads of understeer, slow gearchanges and average brakes that smoked like hell after two laps.Great engine though, but lacks the urgency of the Ferrari V8. Not for me ta.

This actually is one of the few true things you have written of late, I really dont want to drive mine much now, and yes £150k+ would be nice, but it would eat me that it genuinely is irreplaceable, moreso with mine being one of only two Rosso/Crema cars.

Perhaps when it gets to £200k the temptation will be too great, who knows biggrinbiggrinbiggrin

Given the £170k example is at 19k, which is approaching mid-life for a Ferrari (I'm joking), I think a 3-5k example would fetch close to 200k.

I was offered a 3k CS last year for £105k, that would have been some investment!

Makes you wonder what will happen to LHD values once the 120 or so RHD are safely locked away doesn't it...?

I missed out on my opportunity to buy a Ford GT for £110K in January, and a Lancia Delta S4 for under £100K a few years back.. I wasn't going to miss the opportunity again so am keeping my CS for a few years!

I'm of a different opinion having come from a 2009 F430 F1 spider and to me the LP570 - 4 Performante is a better car although I agree it doesn't dance like a CS or Scuderia when on the limit on a track.

Early Gallardo's are not a patch on the LP's and the Superlegerra and Performante are even better again than the standard LP being lighter.

The E -gear in sport or corsa mode feels better than the F1 as are the Lambo ceramic brakes compared to the F430. Chris Harris even said that the E-Gear didn't feel ancient having come from a 458.
The engine has 80 bhp and 60 lb/ft torque more and seems more urgent to me but then again I don't pretend to be Seb Vettel and drive on the limits on public roads and I'm not really interested in track days.

Horses for courses but there doesn't seem to be the same mutual respect from Ferrari owners towards Lamborghini as the other way round ? Maybe its an inferiority complex ?? or maybe its cus I'm in both camps

I like to think I'm unbiased as I am a Ferrari owner ( F355 GTS manual Keeper ) and enthusiast who also happens to own the pinnacle of Lamborghini Gallardo's, all IMHO of course. 458 and McLaren might be slightly better technology but they don't give the same supercar wow experience of a convertible V10 Gallardo which visually and aurally is like NOTHING else and unbeatable.

Are we going to start seeing threads saying Gallardo's are going up in price lol

I love CS' and much prefer it to the Scud. Mine is for sale at Fletchdale, it's on PH. Good car but it lacks personality compared to the old CS, technically better but what does that mean. It's all about how you feel behind the wheel. That is where the CS scores.

All this endless debate about prices is all very well, but at the moment, rightly or wrongly, they are commanding big numbers. I wouldn't buy today but some people would and that's all it takes. Good luck to those current owners. It's a case of the upside is it keeps going up, downside is it goes down and you're stuck with a cracking car. Not to mention a stunning one.
